The classical concert Cello Fundamento 8 with the theme “75 Years of Romania – Vietnam Diplomatic Relations” is a special event in the annual concert series founded by cellist Dr. Dinh Hoai Xuan. Sponsored by PV GAS and supported by the Romanian Embassy and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the event celebrates the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. The program gathers over 120 outstanding artists from both Vietnam and Romania, featuring conductor Bogdan Postolache, conductor Olivier Ochanine, the Ansamblul Timisul folk dance troupe, PlaCello group, and many prominent musicians and singers.

In the historical development of music in general and symphony in particular, the cello plays an indispensable role in works. Many people think that the Cello only has a mid-range tone. In fact, the Cello is not only the connection between the two layers of sound in the orchestra but also with its unique timbre, this instrument can still captivate people when soloing.

With a passion for the cello and the desire to bring cello to the masses through professional and creative performances, cellist Dinh Hoai Xuan founded Cello Fundamento and maintains the organization since 2016. This program is held annually in Vietnam.

Cello Fundamento is a delicate blend of the cello with other instruments such as piano, violin or symphony orchestra. Therefore, the annual concert cannot lack talented Vietnamese and international artists who have achieved many prestigious achievements and awards in the field of classical music.

Rafael Butaru

Position: Concertmaster

Rafael Butaru is the concertmaster of the "George Enescu" Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Opera of Bucharest. He has collaborated with renowned artists and participated in major music festivals such as George Enescu, SoNoRo, and Young Euro Classic.

He has won numerous international awards, trained with top musicians, and has been a mentor in the Princess Margareta Foundation's young talent program since 2015.

Rafael Butaru also performs as a soloist and is a member of the Romanian Chamber Orchestra, Ludens Piano Trio, and ArGenTango, contributing to various significant classical music projects.

Dinh Hoai Xuan is the founder of the Cello Fundamento program series, which is held annually to bring classical music in general as well as the cello in particular closer to the Vietnamese public.

Currently, she has completed her PhD thesis in Cello performance at Bucharest National University of Music, Romania and became the first female Doctor of Cello in Vietnam.

From 2009 to present, he is the director and founder of the Harold Music Canada School of Music and the music director of the Association for the Preservation of Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage in Canada.
